After Katelyn‘s return, Leann wanted to make sure that her Katie would cope with her trauma and move forward with her life. Leann reinstated her back to her old job in the store, managing inventory to pass the time and get their relationship back to normal. Leann also was very much aware of Paul’s current affair – Katelyn’s boyfriend before the abduction – with Nadine.
From Leann perspective, there was only one course of action for Paul and that was for Paul to let Katelyn go. Of course, telling Katelyn directly of the ‘things’ that happened while she was abducted is totally out of question. Leann made an agreement with Paul and Nadine to let Paul stay with Katelyn for the time being, all the while setting up a ‘natural’ break up.
The plan was for Paul to become a jerk, so Katelyn would think that it was a natural course of any relationship when the break up happens.
Paul is not ready. Katelyn had changed so much since her return. She was more open, less timid and seemed more confident having sex. Paul was taken aback, especially her way with sex, and naturally, doubts started to arise about the plan. He was in love with Katelyn before the abduction. Then Nadine came into his life. Now that Katelyn was back and with her transformation, she was even more attractive for Paul.
Yet, Paul was no fool. He wasn’t going to just let Nadine go. She has money and she didn’t care if he fooled around with other girls. Nadine is any man’s dream girl. Leann read Paul like a bad novel and confronted him about his going off plan.
The plan has to be kept from Katelyn and executed accordingly on schedule. Paul is the main cog in the plan. Was he getting cold feet? Will he mess things up? Will Katelyn ever be able to get back to a normal life?
